Precalculus: A Study of Functions and Their Applications
Swanson, Andersen, and Keeley

"This manuscript is a reform book which does not sacrifice the rigor of the material.  It provides a readable text with plenty of illustration of the concepts.  In addition, the text will allow for the opportunity to do group work through the many investigative problems.  Since the exponential and logarithmic functions along with the periodic functions are covered early in the text, these important classes of functions are sure to be covered in a one semester course.  The exercises provided are not routine and yet students completing a course from this text will have the necessary drill skills to do well in their first term of calculus.  In addition, I feel that students will have a better background in the concepts of domain, range, composition, and inverses of functions."
