Chapter 8: Confidence Intervals
Part 1
Today we will begin our study of inference. We will see what a
confidence interval is and how to determine the confidence interval for
a population proportion.
Homework:
- Read Sections 8.1 and 8.2
- Do exercises 1, 5, 13, 15, 19, 22, 23, and 24 in chapter
8.
- Do 6, 7, and 8 on pages 48 and 49 in the supplement.
Part 2
We continue to study confidence intervals, this time for a single
population mean. We will also take a look at how to estimate a
sample size needed for a certain margin of error.
Homework:
- Read Sections 8.2 and 8.3
- Do exercises 27, 30 (not part d), 31, 38, 39, 41, 42, 47-51, 87,
and 88 in chapter
8.
