Today we begin our work on probability.  We will look at the idea of probability and randomness.  We will also see a few definitions and basic properties associated with some simple probabilistic situations.  We will also look at the concept of conditional probability and see how those probabilities are calculated in a variety of ways. 

Read Sections 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3
Do 2, 6, 7, 15, 19, 22, 23, 31, 34, 39, 40, 73, 83, and 97 in chapter 5.
Review for Test 1
