These are times when I will be in my office and available to help you. You may drop in at these times without an appointment. I am also available at many other times by appointment. You may set up an appointment by phone, email, or in person. Finally, if you see me in my office, feel free to pop in. I'll be happy to help you if I can or schedule a mutually agreeable meeting time.

The Michigan Autumn Take-Home (MATH) Challenge
takes place in October. In this competition,
students work in teams of two or three solving a set of ten challenging
mathematics problems. Teams complete at their home institutions. Hope has won
this competition several times.

Putnam Competition site. This is a national competition among individuals
in pure mathematics that takes place in early December.

Contest in Modeling is sponsored by COMAP, the
Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications. This is a national, team competition
in applied mathematics in February.

Contest in Modeling is also sponsored by COMAP.
This is a national, team competition in applied mathematics in which teams
consist of members from mathematics as well as other disciplines. It takes place in February.

The Lower Michigan Mathematics Challenge takes place in April at a different college somewhere in
Michigan each year. In this competition,
students work in teams of two or three solving a set of ten challenging
mathematics problems. Hope has taken home the coveted Klein Bottle Trophy many times over the years.
